NEWCASTLE, August 19, 2010 - Trainer Kris Lees is using Saturday's Group II Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) as a guide to where he'll head with his promising filly Elimbari for the remainder of her campaign. Lees said the race is as strong a Silver Shadow as he can remember and it will give his a good reference for Elimbari's future missions. “Geez it's a hard race and we're going to know where we are at after Saturday,” Lees said. “If she races well we'll keep going in the Princess Series otherwise we'll come back a notch.” Lees said he's satisfied with how Elimbari is going this preparation and the filly has come on well since her third behind Motspur in a recent Newcastle trial. “She was pretty fresh in the trial but it did her the world of good,” he said. “Her work since has pleased and she's going to get every chance from barrier one on Saturday. “I'll be very happy if she can finish around the money.” Lees' other Warwick Farm runner is the tough last start winner Hidden Wonder in the TAB Quaddie Jackpot Handicap (1600m). Lees said the six-year-old mare has continued to thrive since her latest victory and he believes she gets into Saturday's race quite well. “When I had a look at it I didn't think the race was that much harder,” he said. “She's tough and tries her heart out so she's going to be in the thick of it again from a good draw [2]. “She's definitely going to the race with a winning chance.” |
